How do digital X-rays work?
Digital X-ray technology has eliminated virtually all of the problems associated with traditional systems, and for good reason. In the past, X-rays had to be developed very slowly in a darkroom with potentially dangerous chemicals, and the process of capturing them exposed patients to a significant amount of radiation. Today, our team relies on a small sensor placed comfortably in the mouth to capture the images we need, and they’re instantly transferred to our computer system for easy viewing – no waiting required!
Some of the other benefits of digital X-rays include:
- While radiation is still necessary when taking X-rays, this advanced system minimizes the amount, even reducing it by up to 90% in some cases.
- Our team members can easily alter the detailed images of the patient’s mouth in a number of ways, including magnifying them, rotating them, and color-coding them. Education becomes easier with these options, allowing us to help you better understand what’s going on with their oral health.
- If an outside specialist or insurance company needs to see your X-rays, we can easily replicate and transfer them.
- By using digital storage instead of large filing cabinets, our Waco, TX team can keep our office better organized and also help the environment while we’re at it.
