What is Covered by My Delta Dental Plan?

Man’s hands holding animated tooth under umbrellaEvery Delta Dental plan is as unique as the patient who’s covered by the policy. However, in most cases, you should expect to receive some combination of the following insurance coverage in exchange for your payment of a monthly plan premium:

  • Preventive dentistry – 80 to 100% coverage for dental checkups, teeth cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, and more
  • Restorative dentistry – 50 to 80% coverage for conservative restoration options like tooth-colored fillings, dental crowns, bridges, partials, and full dentures
  • Orthodontics (when elected) – 20 to 70% coverage for both traditional bracket and wire braces and clear alignment tray orthodontic options
  • Miscellaneous services – 10 to 50% coverage for other services like mouthguards and dental sedation

What Does it Mean to be In-Network with Delta Dental?

Dental benefit formsHealth maintenance organization (HMO) plans require patients to visit in-network dentists in order to receive coverage. Preferred provider organization (PPO) plans, like Delta Dental, allow greater flexibility. You can receive coverage for dentistry services from out of network dentists. However, you will be responsible for additional costs if the out of network dentist charges fees higher than those deemed fair by Delta. In-network dentists have agreed to charge fees within Delta’s fair price range, so you only ever need to pay the out of pocket percentage of treatment costs when you visit our dentistry practice.
